I miss the regular updates, but Homestar Runner has had plenty of great cartoons. It's easily one of the best web original animated series, if not the best.

Speaking of kids' shows...

Also here's some important life lessons from the Cheat Commandos.

I still refer to budget-priced or low quality products as "cheap as free". Also when writing pretty much anything: "Give it a little double space action..."

I had a The Cheat shirt, but the washing machine demanded a blood-toll from it, and now it is no more.

I always thought that Senor Cardgage was inspired by this guy:

I've still got/use the Homestar keychain that came with my Trogdor shirt, though the shirt has been gone for years.

That site hit its peak with Virus, where Strongbad's computer gets infected and everything in his world just goes bonkers.

"And now, the Compy just peed on my carpet."

"I CAN'T SPELL YOU!!!"

"Your computer's in a better place, Strongbad. Actually, it's in the same place, with a big hole through it! "

Whoa, "cheap as free" comes from Homestar? Crazy. I think my favourite sketches were always Senor Cardgage Mortgage, the website intro (Homestaw Wunner dot net - It's Dot Com!), Jorb Well Done and all the Teen Girl Squad stuff. I still say "Wiggity wack? No just regular type" and "How do you be so short?"

Man, I should go back and rewatch some Homestar. I've forgotten how obsessed I was with it.

Also, the Experimental Film music video was great.

They were up to date at the time, but I stopped doing it a couple of years before the site finished updating, so it's kind of an incomplete archive. Sadly, it's not AllOfHomestarRunner.zip.

EDIT: Oddly enough, I think it was Parish's proclivity to tear down Toasty Frog routinely that made me nervous that all of my favorite sites would just disappear without notice.

I did the exact same thing at the exact same time, but that was because I only had a 56K modem and a computer that had a hard time with the streaming internet juggernaut that was a Flash plugin.

Wow, reminding me of that made me realize that two of my very favorite bands are closely associated with Homestar Runner. That's pretty crazy. Anyway, here's one of my favorite exchanges in the whole site, from "Magic Trick":

STRONG BAD: Now, we've never met before, have we sir?
HOMESTAR RUNNER: No, good buddy Strong Bad. We have never met.
STRONG BAD: You look like a man of... many arms.
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yeah, I'm like an octopus.

Yeah, watching Homestar was rather difficult for me back then because of dial-up.

All da strongbads:

"Zounds, a sasparilla swimming hole!. Last one in is a freemason."

The brothers chap just have a way with words, I can't really think of anything else that sounds quite like a homestar exchange.

Oh. It's not from a female."

This week, I will instruct you on how to make a wet computer out of Strong Bad's computer.

First, you need a 2-litre bottle of Mountain Dew. Then get Strong Bad's computer. Apply liberally.

The first person to call me the orange Coach Z is getting a free consultation with my friends Jacoby and Myers.

Different variations of "keep doin' your thing, man" have crept into quite a lot of my LPs over the years.

Also Homestar taught me the correct way to pronounce "reasonable".

I think it worth mentioning that every time I go to Brick's blog I start singing "I will never ever ever ever ever write a song about the Scibbe" in my head.

Homestar Runner will return to us in our hour of greatest need. In this golden age of good cartoons with good wordplay, we have little need for this champion. But one day, when the laughs of men have faded, all joy is extinguished, and there is nary a one around to coin a rakish phrase, Homestar Runner will return. We must keep the faith, and remember - there is still comedy on the internet.

The April 2014 update provided us with closure. That is the epilogue of Homestar Runner Dot Net: It's Dot Com.
