This episode was funnier than the last two, but I guess rampant and excessive violence is just gonna be a thing now.

I think they're setting up a theme. One of the things I think fans were chomping at the bit for all last season, was less Beth and Jerry, less domestic B Plots, all Rick all adventure all the time.

Now were going to get them. And they're going to be the darkest years of their adventures! Because Rick is a bad influence.

I may or may not have to revisit my thesis about this season not being noticeably darker

Now that's more like it. If they keep undermining Rick's brand of teenage nihilism, and keep giving us lines like "Dr. Wong....racist name, by the way", then I'm fully on board.

I do think the only episode gorier than this one might have been the purge episode, or Anatomy Park.

I'm not sure how you explain it, but here goes: Wong sounds like a stereotypical name for an Asian person.

The joke was that she was deflecting in a really dumb way.

He's pretty much Machete fanfiction right? I mean, if getting the actual actor to reprise pretty much identical roles counts.

So I'm all caught up on this more.

I like it more than I liked Bojack Horseman, which I finished largely out of spite, but I really don't think I need more cartoons about depressed self-destructive people in my life.

I was fairly underwhelmed by this one, but it at least got a few chuckles for sure.

This was probably one of the funnier episodes this season but still disturbing. Like, dang. Rick is a serial killer now, nbd.

I agree with Umby. Not a bad episode of television, but not up to the show's very high standard for me.

Rick murdering the Guardians of the Galaxy just to prove "both sides do it"-ism is tasteless and vile.

I really dug Morty's line "Rick's point is that none of you are special. That's always his point." His exhaustion was perfect.

Well Rick didn't really have much of a point to what he did. Look at the solutions to all the rooms: 1. They're all interchangeable jerks, 2. Something something Israel. 3. Shoot some 3 pointers. 4. Newb newb is awesome. . The infighting is something that just happened. Maybe Roiland had a point beyond that, but I think it was more of the Always Sunny brand of "Everyone is terrible" that this show is really ramping up this season.

The current political climate may be coloring things a bit, I suppose.

I thought that the point was people who say "everyone is terrible" are actually terrible.

The Vindicators actually were terrible. (Except for Noob Noob.) They killed an entire planet just to avoid asking Rick for help, not to mention their murdering of each other and attempted murders of Morty and Rick.

Also, Noob Noob sounds an awful lot like Mr. Poopy Butt-Hole. In fact, they look similar too except for eye placement. Might they be related?

I liked the first two seasons quite a bit, but this one hasn't impressed me very much so far. They aren't really delivering at the high bar they set for themselves at the end of the last season, and I feel like they needed more time to workshop better plot and character development ideas. I suppose the breathless hype for this show and instant t-shirtification of every joke hasn't really helped my opinion either.

Also, why no Jerry stories? He's my favorite character, and I feel like a pathetic, divorced dad is very ripe territory for a show with this outlook to explore.

Next week is a Rick and Jerry episode.

I have come to the conclusion that Rick & Morty and Venture Bros. are TV's secret biggest Prestige Shows. They get as much time as they need to get done, and both have astronomical expectations heaped on them. Meanwhile, Game of Thrones gets an A on AV Club or wherever if it doesn't shit in it's hand and eat it.

Game of Thrones is a soap opera and very good at what it does. It's not prestige television.

Glad to see Harmon put his Marvel antipathy to work again. Gr8 episode, like all episodes. This didn't serve as an endorsementvindication of Rick's toxicity.
