Default Game of Thrones: The TV Show: The Ride

Since the TV show is starting at the beginning and there are probably some people who will watch it without reading the books, and in a few months the next book will be out and the TV discussion shouldn't be flooded with blanked out spoilers for things that maybe won't be filmed for years, it's time we gave the show its own thread.

Some people have seen over half of the season already! They all say it's good! I'm pretty excited for Sunday.

HEY, YOU: ONLY READ THE SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD IF YOU'VE READ THE BOOKS, APPARENTLY.

We don't have cable (or even an OTA tuner for that matter) but I will still find some legitimate way to watch this show.

I've been watching all the trailers and previews on HBO's youtube channel and I am at the peak of excitement!

I also *finally* convinced my wife to read the first book after she started seeing some of the character features. She just finished it last night and dove right into Clash.

My parents get over 9000 channels on their dish, but HBO is not one of them. I guess I can pay them the $16 per month or whatever it costs now.

Anyway, yay! I haven't watched any trailers or anything, but I am excited.

Don't see an alternative besides waiting for the home release.

Question: is Sean Bean's character the guy from the first Lord of the Rings movie, or the guy from Black Death? ...or is this a new, third Knight Guy?!

Haven't seen Black Death, but I'd say New Knight Guy. Also, he's technically not a Knight.

I doubt his middle initial is Q. But good points nonetheless.

And you would be wrong anyway, because yeah, he's the guy who played Boromir. I thought this was common knowledge?

I also thought IMDB existed, which makes such questions super easy to answer.

I know Sean Bean played Boromir. What I seemed like Alixsar was asking was if he was playing a similar character to Boromir. Which he isn't, in my opinion.

Nah I was just being silly. I don't care about that series at all. People tell me the books are good, and now people are saying the show is good. And I believe them. But I've been burned by fantasy books too many times so I'm staying away.

I just think it's funny that Sean Bean has a niche as Warrior Guy, you know?

See also: coworkers you've never hung out with before until they saw you re-reading A Game of Thrones on your lunch break and they invited you over to watch the premiere.

I guess I'm going to be covering this show for the website I write for. I think I would have preferred just watching it, though!

The guide says tonight's episode goes until 10:05, can anyone who has seen it tell me how long it actually lasts?

I was hoping it wouldn't run over into The Killing but now I'm doubtful. How about later episodes?

HBO is playing the first episode twice, and then a bunch more on later days. The pilot is only an hour though.

I wasn't paying too much attention, but I'm pretty sure the other ones clock in at less than an hour.

I'm not worried about missing it, I'd just rather not miss a couple minutes of The Killing.

That was epic. I wouldn't change a thing about it, it is incredibly faithful to the book. Is it next Sunday yet?

My brother and I just watched it. It's funny, because he just started a re-read of the book, so he noticed a lot of minor (and some semi-major) changes. Still, though, we both agreed it was awesome and very faithful.

I haven't read the books at all but man that ending setts a grimly tone for the whole show. I really did not seeing that coming, gotta love when shows set you up thinking a character is going to be huge only to kill them off in the first episode like the shield. Whoa crazy brother whoring off his sister to conan/that guy from stargate atlantis, and whoaaa barbarians that gang rape and gang fight at weddings DAWW DIRE WOLF PUPPIES
