They must not be blocked in Japan, because I've gotten them pretty much the time you'd expect them to be uploaded.

They're fine in small amounts. I'd rather get this news from Colbert, et al than weepy Twitter users screaming that we're all doomed.

Good journalism is a ray of light in these dark times. Have to admit I'm not accustomed to it coming mostly from entertainers, though

On the topic of Last Week Tonight a weekly half hour show is nowhere enough time to cover everything that happens in the week.

That's why, since his show began, he has almost always focused on larger issues that stay relevant, instead of chasing the most recent hot news.

The handling of Last Week tonight's youtube channel for international viewers continues to frustrate. It feels like they forget that the rest of the world exists for weeks at a time, until some intern is like "Oh right, I should flip that switch" and then we get 3-4 new month-old videos in a single day.

Seems more likely to be a rights thing for HBO's legally owned content.

Why would a rights thing manifest as sporadic and inconsistent? Obviously there's a reason for this, yes, but it's also just as obviously being mishandled.

Is it true that Colbert is now good? I watched the show for several months and it felt awkward and forced at times. The last show I can definitely remember watching are the post-convention episodes.

He comes and goes for me. I like the standup section and the interviews, and don't bother with the furry hat, confessional, or cartoons. Since I have no problem waiting 'til the next day to watch it, YouTube works perfectly to pick and choose the segments I want.

They need to drop the cartoons... they're phenomenally lame. The other thing I don't like about Colbert is his chuckling band leader. "Oh ho ho, you're hilarious! Good point! You're on fire!" I know this is a staple of talk show hosts, but I didn't like it with Leno or Letterman, and I don't like it here. If you're funny enough, you don't need your band leader doubling as a laugh track.

Past that, I like him. I thought some of his pre-convention stuff was great, like the takedown of Donald Trump Jr. involving candy bars. Rapid-fire puns are a guilty pleasure of mine.

I regularly watch Colbert's opening and his news roundup. It's usually pretty solid.

I like Colbert, but part of me thinks the show, which is still very good, could have been better if it took some cues from Conan, namely getting out more. I know it sounds dumb to ask one comedian to act like another, but late in the Colbert Report, Stephen took a trip to Comic Con that was largely apolitical and was just ridiculous and silly. It was what I was hoping for the new show to be.

And when Colbert first came on it was a little weak. Though the show getting his claws and teeth back in the wake of the nightmarescape of the election and all that followed, I really do wish he would get out of the studio more for just a bit of silliness.
