I choose to believe that this optional endgame line from Shiva's fayth sums it up:

"Should the dreaming end, you too will disappear. Fade into Spira's sea, Spira's sky. But do not weep, nor rise in anger. Even we were once human. That is why we must dream. Let us summon a new dream in a new dream world... a new sea for you to swim in."

So perhaps his spirit is doing well somewhere in another dream world, but he sure ain't coming back to Spira.

Dizzy is an experimental AI trying to learn how to interact with humans.

Pokemon takes place in a post-apocalyptic world.

Similarly, it's pretty hard at this point to believe that Mario Peach and Bowser aren't all on the best of terms with each other and just go through the whole kidnapping thing as some sort of elaborate roleplaying thing.

BEAT's father is a Skeleton Soldier from the Skeleton Wars.
BEAT'S Mother is a Giant Monacle and a Top Hat. Momacle.

OoT Link is wearing the tunic/skirt dealie, instead of shorts like most of the kokiri boys cause all his clothes are Saria's Hand me downs.

Malcolm McDowell is the same character in Tank Girl as he was in Clockwork Orange only "Timed up" Because of thermodynamics existing in both that and our own universes.

This is actually Miyamoto's official explanation.

I think I posted my elaborate theory of parallel Samuses before but I don't remember what thread it was in. Short version, Echoes does to Metroid what Ocarina of Time does to Zelda, and that explains why Samus isn't cool anymore.

Also Beatles Rock Band is an accurate depiction of what it was like in the studio when they recorded those songs.

But are they canonical? (no)

Thinking about classic cartoons, I was thinking about how weird the divide between The Looney Tunes Show and other ongoing episodic shows featuring classic cartoon characters and those actual classic cartoons is. Who Framed Roger Rabbit set up a canonical solution in that all those old characters are actors playing roles in their cartoons.

Like, Bugs Bunny defending his rabbit hole when Yosemite Sam builds a casino over it versus Sea-Goin' Sam burying his pirate treasure in Bugs' rabbit hole. Clearly those two instances are non canonical and clearly SOMEone should have been fired for that blunder but not if you think of it in terms of live-action shorts from the same period, such as the Three Stooges or Laurel and Hardy.

Of course, that just lessens the case for something like The Looney Tunes Show, because it would be like if the Three Stooges starred in an ongoing Family Guy-esque sitcom.

am i cool now that i put way too much thought into something both meaningless and obvious

In Transformers, Unicron is the physical personification of the Dead Universe, which is why both have a single-minded goal of removing all things except itself from existence, and why Unicron can't actually die.

Also, the Vok felt bad for Earth in every continuity, since Transformers inevitably show up and ruin it, either jntentionally or by burying all their super-weapons on it, which is why Prehistoric Earth, as shown in Beast Wars, is basically a death trap for any Cybertronian stupid enough to set foot on it.

I'm pretty sure that there was some sort of Three Stooges sitcom. Animated with live-action segments. You could express its awfulness in words, but it'd be much quicker to go watch it and come to that conclusion yourself.

(so pretty much confirming your point there.)

But what makes the Disney shorts non-canonical? What's Disney canon?

I maintain that being Sheogorath is kind of like having any other job, and when there isn't anyone who needs to be driven insane right that minute the Champion of Cyrodiil is free to shapeshift back into his or her usual form, sober up a bit, leave the Shivering Isles in Haskill's hands, and continue adventuring across the Planes of Oblivion. Because it's kind of crappy if, at the end of Oblivion, your character's personality is entirely destroyed when you inherit the powers of a demonic Scotsman.

∙ Jabba the Hutt: Choked to death at a dinner party

I dunno, it seems like mundane causes of death aren't unusual for iconic Star Wars characters.

Mario Sr. was very upset when his sons became plumbers instead of following in his footsteps as a Jump Man.

Also, I think we can all agree that the Star Wars prequels are not canon.

Yoda: died in bed of old age

Okay, yeah, I see where you're going with this. But Windu is totally an iconic Star Wars character, because in my headcanon "superpowered Samuel L. Jackson putting the hurt on an army of murderbots" is the only piece of official Star Wars canon that exists. All the games, comics, books, movies, and the rest of the Tartakovsky-helmed cartoon are Expanded Universe bullshit.
