I wish they would make zero calorie varieties of ginger ale, but that mad science is probably not worth unleashing on people yet.

Also, I tried this lame Samurai Blue thing from Kirin Mets Cola (no relation to Apu's favorite squadron) and it was passable. But I wouldn't really drink it again. I just liked the distinctly blue color.

Nah, drink soda occasionally, if you like it. If you're going to cut out occasional soda you better also be a teetotaler as well

Treat soda as a dessert, not a beverage.

You know, that Limeade Kickstarter by Mountain Dew is actually pretty good! Likely the best lime soda I've ever had, and there's been a lot of those.

Which is exactly where I bought their entire supply of the pictured beverage and am going to be set for this summer and beyond.

Our local one is next to a Toys R Us and across the street from an Ikea so it's basically the best place.

I like that they have Mt. Dew Baja in cans and bottles now. It has a more mellow taste than regular Dew.

Also, nabbed a glass bottle of some local root beer recently which is always a treat. I will always be a Barqs girl but any root beer worth half a damn is damn good to me.
Please let me know if you do indeed learn of a way to import American soft drinks here on the cheap; I really wanted some Mello Yello for that marathon last year, but came up short.

Seriously? Pepsi couldn't afford to make the drink on their own, so they crowdfunded it?

As for fountain versus can, I usually prefer fountain first, provided the fountain is well-maintained. Side note: Glad to see Pepsi has developed an answer to Coke Freestyle.

And I'd love to try that Jolly Rancher Watermelon soda, since that is my favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher.

My kingdom for a way to get Kidsbeer (fake beer that's just apple sode with a similar color to beer and a semi-realistic foaming head) or the Energy/Caffeinated version of HeySong Sarsaparilla stateside.

Kickstart, rather. No -er at the end. I knew that didn't sound right! Anyway, it's pretty good.

Big Red is fun once in a while. Especially if you pretend it's the stuff you pour in that viking toy from that fake Saturday Night Live commercial of the same name.

I tried out that LeBron James' Sprite 6 Mix. It tastes like someone mixed some Code Red in the Sprite, but was oddly pleasant anyway.

We saw these at Target. Aside from the godawful design, the taste is just like regular Dr. Pepper, except there's cake at the end.

I think I've mentioned it here before, but Japanese people absolutely hate root beer and Dr Pepper. They say both taste like medicine. (At my urging, I've gotten a few people to try root beer and say it's grown on them! But only a few.) You can't find either in Japan except for a few import stores and the unicorn-rare vending machine on like a residential street corner.

I also hate Dr Pepper, but that is neither here nor there
