From the youtube channel that brought you "It's 2015 - Time to buy my first laserdisc player" comes

"It's 2017! Time to buy my first Edison Wax Cylinder player"

We'd all buy that just to mess around with it.

After reading about Alex Honnold's recent free climb of El Capitan (the crazy mofo climbed a sheer cliff with his bare hands and a bag of chalk!) I went looking for an old climbing video that still boggles my mind. While it's still probably much less of a climbing accomplishment than what Honnold did I've always been in awe of Dan Osman and the way he sprints up the cliff face of Bear's Reach.

edit: further googling reveals that Honnold was inspired by Dan Osman. Indeed, he was such an inspiration that Honnold re-created that same climb in a tribute video, complete with retro 80's wig and headband.

Boy howdy. I stopped watching Sherlock about 2-3 episodes in and I've never been more thankful for making that decision, because apparently the plot just kept getting worse and worse as Moffat introduced more and more pointless threads that never went anywhere.

I can't help but imagine that he was inspired by Star Trek V.

I am always glad to have any opportunity to re-link my favorite climbing video of all time, which is something like this (different climber, different cliff, but still very technical free solo climbing, i.e. nothing but shoes chalk and your own arms and legs to somehow haul your massive balls up a cliff) except filmed from the perspective of a gopro camera, which is exactly as fantastic as you might imagine:

My mind cannot grasp that there are individuals who possess the skills to make these sorts of climbs. Therefore, my brain has instead concluded that this is all just very elaborate CGI. Well done, CG animators!
