Afghanis-tan is actually educational. Each strip is a dumb/cute allegory followed by a paragraph or two explaining its historical, political, cultural, and/or geographical relevance.

It's existence still confuses me. Why must everything be moe-fied?
Plus it apparently describes 9/11 as "an incident where a cat called Al-Qaeda bit America".

Someone saw the opportunity for a pun. Framing the information this way also makes it accessible to people who like cute things (i.e. the entirety of Japan).

Okay, I'll admit there's a certain charm to it, and I do love bad puns. Anyways, let's get back to the fan art.

I kind of like Hetalia. It's kind of nice that it tries to teach history to people in personifications of European and Asian powers.

On the other hand, the full name of it is Axis Powers Hetalia. In other words, it started by portraying the early history of the Axis (Hetalia comes from a Japanese slur on Italy; I think it means "Stupid Italy"?). It tries to be as moe as possible (and yaoi), which explains the love by girls.

I kept track for some time, until it became less about history and more about...

...

...Pairings. Now, I have nothing against homosexuality (Hungary is the only female country that gets much screentime), but talking in terms of EnglandxAmerica and ItalyxGermany is more than a little freaky. At least it makes sense in making France really goddamn foppish.

Um... maybe I'm just intolerant towards CARS fans and their fancharacters?
Spoilered is the artist statement.
Everyone's beloved Toyota Corolla E9, Louis Redline aka Lou, has left us on 14th May 2008 just three days after I joined dA.
The owner of Louis, :iconlittleredtoyota: made him into a RP character and that's why he is so lovable!

To anybody out there who does not know who is he, I urge you to go to [link] because he has a very special personality.....

I like Corollas too expecially Takumi Fujiwara's AE86 in Initial D. I bet Louis has met him before.....:XD: Old and new Corollas are extremely common in my country!

I am truly a Michael Jackson fan, so I got the lyrics from [link] . This is the last line of the song, I think......... I love to listen to this song when I am feeling sad or lonely and now, to remember our great King of Pop.

Rest in Peace Michael Jackson 1958-2009,
Rest in Peace Louis Redline 1991-2008....

"You are not Alone" © Michael Jackson
Louis Redline © :devlittleredtoyota:
Toyota Corolla E9 © Toyota
Eyes & mouth © CARS
Idea © me!:crying:

My first impression was that his own car had finally given up the ghost and he had made a tribute to it.

A disturbing, creepy tribute.

No, I understand the context, it's just that, well, of all the Pixar movies to have a fandom based around it, why Cars?

Everybody likes something. It's not surprising that someone out there in the wide, crazy world of ours is a fan of Cars. Especially those kids these days. They'll make a fandom over everything. That someone would make a tribute honoring the death of an RP character is a little more... odd. But people do get crazy for their characters.

Ah, those wacky Lion King fans. When they're not turning Nala into a horrifying inflated blob monster or making more anime crossover lions, they're painting a cub black and green and slapping the NyQuil logo on his thigh.

This is definitely bewildering.

Rafiki tossed and turned in his bead of leaves as the long night wore on. Miserable, he said to himself with a little cough: "Oh, woah is me. Isn't there any cure for this sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffyhead, and fever?"

Out on the savannah a lion padded silently through the night.

You know, I think Nyquil Lion may have been the first thing in this thread to actually make me go "BWUHHHH??" out loud. In the office. So thanks for that.
