I baked a cake for my coworker's daughter!

Apparently she likes this Descendents thing.

I was so confused about this, then read the Descendants wikipedia page. It sounds bonkers.

Genuinely curious who the father is. Until proven wrong, I'm assuming The Horned King.

Following up on my comment about Nerdy's awesome cake — is anyone here into the Great British Bake-Off/Baking Show? It's actually literally the first cooking show of any sort that's piqued my interest, and I love cooking. I'm just usually turned off by whiny diva chefs and rivalry between contestants, something the show completely eschews, instead emphasizing process, constructive criticism, and wit (the hosts and judges are among the most jovial, genial human beings I've ever seen).

Plus a lot of the dishes the bakers come up with are just completely fucking nuts. The current season recently had a showstopper challenge where the contestants create fully playable, edible board games, and the winner came up with a gorgeous, fully functional, and apparently delicious chess set.

Don't think about it too hard. Or why Jafar's son has a latin name. Or why Jafar has a son at all.

The Med was historically one of the greatest networks of trade and travel up until modern times? Not hard to believe an Arabian politician/sorcerer married someone from elsewhere.

No it's hard to believe Jafar, specifically, married anybody. Making Jasmine his slave girl was an afterthought to grabbing the crown. Plus then he got turned into a genie, and then destroyed when his lamp was Mt Doom'ed.

We've been watching the new season, and everyone but Paul has been swapped out as part of the move to Channel 4. I miss Mel and Sue (the new hosts are fine but can't match their chemistry), but Mary's replacement is awesome. She's like a combination of a British schoolmarm and Thomas Dolby.

That's interesting. I feared the show would be completely wrecked because of the changes.

It's basically exactly the same. It's kind of like when Doctor Who gets new Doctors and companions — the personalities running things have shifted, but the fundamental show hasn't changed.

This is good to hear, when I read that Mary had left I was kind of devastated. I will still miss her calling things scrummy, though.

As an apology, I can give you 7 and a half cans of Cran-Raspberry La Croix garbage water.

I tried some of that recently and I agree. It's kind of bitter and not nearly as refreshing as regular water. I'm not sure what the point of it is.
