Adam Sessler sure did.

No really, watch this review. He spends more time praising the game for it's commentary on Jingoism, Racism and Class Warfare than the game actually deal with it. All that goes away after the first couple hours and then it's all pseudo-science dimension hopping and unearned twist after twist.

Wow. I'm glad I didnt see this review before playing the game or I'd have ended up feeling even more cheated than I did!

I had fun with it (got tedious towards the end) and my wife absolutely adored it.

GoggleBob, you stated that Final Fantasy 4 is single-player only, but I know this to be false. You can assign a controller to each character and two-play the whole game.

I remember that for Final Fantasy 3 (US), but not 2. Hm.. now to change it in the article, or let it slide. Hm...

Oh, also, sidenote, almost the entire reason I didn't go for a full week of Final Fantasy 2 is that replaying FF4DS briefly kind of made me want to play it again... so that will happen in the future. Have to investigate those Bio noises further.

And, I suppose because I was being cheeky with "Edbard", one of the search hits for my site for the week was "sophie edbards its just love nude pics". Wonderful. Another fine search phrase: "kingdom hearts pictures axel realistic". Dammit, Axel.

Completely unrelated: Any of my fans have any animation experience? I have a terrible idea that requires such a thing

I don't know if SNES FF2 had it, but I do know for a fact that PSX FFIV did.

Funfact: on the field, both players can control where to go (though I think priority goes to player 1).

I just have to say that, as a kid who loved the Archie comics more than the cartoon, having Armagon and War in the roster blew my mind.

Hothead also showed up in aforesaid comic, but he showed up between stories involving Not-Lex Luthor selling the entire Earth to space bugs so... You know...

I should disclaim that this is the version I was thinking of. It's entirely possible that FF2US doesn't have multicontroller support.

Hell, it’s not like people line up to buy the same stupid sports game year after year. Nobody who likes videogames likes sports.

Yeah, today was the "final" Kingdom Hearts FAQ post, and the only completely original KH answer that didn't originally appear on these forums. There is the distinct possibility that I'll post more on KH in the future, likely around the release of (ugh) 2.8 and 3, but for now, I feel like I've said absolutely everything I need to say on the subject.

Proper design would be to write a 14th for next week, leave it on the site for nearly a year, then delete all records that it ever existed.

Yes, the article on Final Fantasy Mystic Quest is up, and I'm rather proud of it. I like when I spend hours on something and it actually turns out how I want it to turn out!

(And randomly shouts out to fans)

There's room enough in the world for two reviews of a horrible monster fighting game.

... And the odds of anyone else attempting to turn the title into a monster guessing game are fairly low.

How did you write that much about FFMQ and never mention the amazing music in that game!

This is appears to be the number one complaint about the article!

I wanted to wedge it in there somewhere, but the premise was “stuff Final Fantasy didn’t do”, and no one is going to argue the rest of FF doesn’t have good music. Kinda figured that "Final Fantasy game" implies "great music" like "JRPG" and "inexplicable final bosses".

Well, MQ's got that covered too. He's even a Dark King instead of just a Dark Lord (heh, Adventure jokes).

And that crazy long post I made in the Laudible Progressive thread on Final Fantasy Women is up.

This actually marks the last thing from the TT forums I had to "import" to the site proper, so from here on out, it's all original. Oh boy or something.

You show FF8 as having the first all-female party in the series. FF7 gives you Tifa, Yuffie, and Aeris for a brief period in disc 1.

I also think it's interesting that you note Freya as being the best damage dealer. In my mind, that goes to Vivi and Steiner (honorable mention to Zidane), and Freya is more of a utility character. Yes, she has That One Attack that has the capacity to deal 9999 damage, but so do Zidane and Quina. It really comes down to how long you want to spend killing dragons, stealing, and catching frogs. Me? I'd rather be playing Chocobo Hot 'n' Cold.

All allowed in the battle party at the same time? I thought Cloud was perma-member until after Aeris's end, but I haven't replayed the game in a while.

Regarding Freya, I can't even remember why, but for some reason I was farming the heck out of dragon hill anyway, so her Dragon's Crest or whatever it was got up to maximum power faster than anything else. She's pretty much the reason I could beat Ozma, so, for better or worse, I'm at least always going to remember her for that. She also wins "most competent party member" because, ya know, look at the rest of these yokels.

Oh, right.

You eventually get Tifa as party leader for a short stint. If the Aeris rumors were true...

Yeah, the only notable part where Cloud isn't leader on Disc 1 is during the battle in the elevator in the Shin-Ra HQ, where it's Aeris, Barret and Red XIII.
