Putting Swagsuke on Smackdown also opens up the possibility of a brand v brand program against Finn. I think they can do really good stuff, especially when it's not being crowded out by Okada, Tanahashi, et al dropping MOTY contenders every 48 hours.

I don't think either guy's likely to see much of the other, but I could totally see them squaring off somewhere in the teens at the Rumble.

A Raw vs SD Survivor Series match has much potential this year, as well. Even just taking the tag match main events from the last couple of shows would be Joe / Rollins / Balor / Owens v Orton / Bray / Harper... and, okay, you'd probably have to swap out Rowan for someone interesting.

Of course, the bigger problem is that the usual run of injuries has yet to really set in; the roster's healthier than it's been for some time right now, with only Nikki hurt and Cena and Jericho off doing other stuff.

Simon Gotch is the first post-WM casualty. No big shock given that most people were amazed he made the main roster in the first place. Tyler Breeze has to have his phone turned off today.

Breeze did that Nikki Bella parody act and stooges for Mr. and Mrs. Cena. We all know how much Vince loves comedy characters; he'll be fine.

And, of course...

We've waited more than a decade now.

(The other interesting possibility, although it's a long way off, is finally seeing Nakamura / Owens)

I'm frantically re-loading the Observer page to see when the issue's up so I can post Dave's speculation on who's going where.
Man, what is it about that video that seems to have so much more weight to the moves than WWE? I mean, even Lesnar's double-axe handle off the apron near the beginning seemed to have more impact than any of the ten suplexes he gave Goldberg on Sunday.

Is it the way they film it? Is it the style over there? Something else?

New Japan World is their WWE Network, and goes for 999 JPY a month, which comes to around nine bucks American, and they're clearly trying to branch out westward, with English commentary on the big shows.

Has there been a Cybermen / Broken Matt mashup in the Botchamania ending before? Because I'm amazed it took so long if not.

Meltz is now saying that Shibata's injury from Sakura Genesis may be career-ending. Unless it's a work. This is one of those cases where wrestling fucks with you in a way that's not any fun.

Shit, why not work a brain bleed? The only thing left you can't work is leaving the dogs in the enclosed pool area.

if Rob Black were still with us he would have totally worked a murder-suicide angle by now.

The weekly stream of Nitro that I watch every week occasionally shows XPW's tribute to 9/11, easily one of the mostly profoundly tasteless 9/11 tributes ever put on video. Very, very racist, full of grammatical/spelling errors and lots and lots of stock footage of bombs going off.

All in all, AMERICA.

Leaning more and more away from it being a work - Dave said on the podcast on Saturday night that he's still got some paralysis. If it's a work, it's a really sick one.

Akebono was also rushed to hospital yesterday and was apparently in a medically-induced coma.

So my friends and I came up with a game, is it a real ultimate warrior promo or fake?

Normal promos: "Yeah, I'm gonna beat him so bad, because I trained hard!"

Ultimate Warrior promos: "I WILL RIDE THE GOLDEN CHARIOT OF DESTINY INTO THE SCORCHING FLAMES OF THE NETHERREALM TO CAPTURE THE SWORD OF DESTRUCTION AS I DEVOUR THE SOULS OF 18 AND A HALF POSSESSED MONKEYS ON MY QUEST TO RIDE THROUGH PARTS UNKNOWN CARRYING THE HEAD OF THE CHOSEN PEACOCK OF LIFE AND ALL ETERNITY"

Warrior's midcard run is full of underrated gems like this.

Does the network have any decent best of feuds from the 80s stuff? The problem with my ppvs rewatching was the best 80s stuff really didn't get recapped much and the ppvs were so much more spaced out. Now that I'm on the attitude era I'm pretty safe just watching the monthly shows, but entire championships and feuds would change dramatically back in the day.

I hope this is the case because I'm pretty sure the SEC's entire video production major cohort was filled out by marks hoping to make the definitive Dusty v Flair highlight package.

WWE's categorization system was always weird. I remember in the 24/7 days, they'd do things by themes rather than just put up the shows that the TV they'd uploaded that week were building to.

So you kind of have to timeline it, which, I agree, will get very weird after a while (for instance, you'd never have a clue about John Studd and Bundy laying out Andre in late-85 unless you saw that MLG show I linked to a couple of weeks ago; I don't even think the footage aired on the SNME with the Hogan / Andre v Studd / Bundy match).

I remember Bret blamed that one indirectly on the ring-boy scandal. Losing Pat Patterson temporarily put Vince a little too close to actual booking.
